Drop-In: Community Movement Workshop with Open Dance Project (Film Screening included)
Community Movement Workshop and Film Screening with Open Dance Project
Friday, November 5
Workshop: 6:15-7:45pm
Screening: 8:00-9:00pm
Led by Annie Arnoult, Artistic Director of Open Dance Project, and Company Member, Joseph Stevens, this interactive movement workshop will guide participants in developing ensemble movement, text, and physical narrative through guided composition exercises.
The workshop will conclude with a video screening of All the Devils are Here, A Tempest in the Galapagos performed by Open Dance Project. All the Devils... collides Shakespeare's The Tempest with the true story of an unsolved murder in the Galapagos in 1929. Filmed during a live performance, this immersive dance theater performance follows the failed attempts of a nihilist couple, a conservative family, and a baroness and her two gay lovers to escape the world of man on the uninhabited island of Floreana. Their conflicting visions of paradise, sexual and moral "rightness," colonial instincts, and social and psychological demons provide a rich canvas for a poignant examination of basic human rights, social justice, and power structures.
The workshop and screening are for those 15 years of age and older.
All participants must be fully vaccinated two weeks prior, and show proof of vaccination upon arrival.
